It's a Monday ...

WOW, all this coming and going Maw and Paw are doing the last few days. But it’s okay, for a friend of theirs passed away and today was the funeral. That is why I have not been able to post anything the last few days, :::sigh::: ... They were impressed when they were going to the grave yard in Pine Bluff. ALL the cars stopped, in respect for the funeral procession, even men that had hats on, took them off or tipped them in respect as those in the funeral procession passed by. You don’t see that too often these days. Way to go Pine Bluff!!!

I must say, even though they have been busy, they still took time for me, giving me a car ride and twice at the dog park. And, AND .. on Sunday evening, there was this man that came to the dog park that gave me treats, and gave some to the other dogs too. I wish he had given me all of them, but he was too nice not to share, with all the other dogs. I stayed right with him, for I wasn’t going to miss out on any extra treats. I just get so excited thinking about it. I also got to see the beagle family. They are so funny! They get all excited over squirrels and creepy crawly thing around there, they just howl :::chuckle:::. Too much energy for me to put out for that.

Well, the razorbacks didn’t win. I feel so bad for the football players. We beagles are good at looking and being sad for others. Listening to them on the news, you can see that the razorback football team just felt REALLY disappointed in themselves. Well keep practicing, and you will succeed. Maw always says, everyday in everyway, I get better and better. Maw is a keeper! She sometimes drives me crazy with these little sayings she has to share with me, but seems like many of them are good .. Paw is a keeper too, for he gives good tummy rubs and ear scruffings,

Well, I just heard that Los Angeles has a big power outage. I sure do hope they the power back on. Glad I don’t live there ... I am spoiled, and I do not like surprises like that. :::Yawning::: Time to take a nap!

Labor Day Weekend

Paw, Maw and I have had a good weekend. They did many people things, but yet I did get extra attention, car rides, outings and extra treats! Not just your everyday kind of treats, special day type treats, :::smiling broadly:::! So let me share our Labor day weekend with you ...

Friday Paw and Maw went out with friends and had sushi, and they said it was so good. Then Saturday, Maw and Paw were cooking a big meal in the kitchen together ... They were cooking for another family, for these people are special in our hearts and are going thru a difficult time. It was fun watching Paw and Maw working in the kitchen together. It is a small kitchen and yet they managed to have fun in the midst of preparing this meal. I was sitting by the kitchen door with my nose in the air taking in the wonderful smells. Oh the food smelled so good to my beagle nose! Maw was acting like she was dropping some of the meat, but I know she was doing it on purpose, so I could enjoy the family time in the kitchen too, and Paw dropped some meat for me too! Trust me, I didn’t miss a beat!

Yesterday, Paw and Maw went to church and then I thought they were never going to come home. I learned later listening to them with my long floppy beagle ears, that they went out with five other people for dinner after church. They came home, and changed clothes, read email, and then, then, THEN .. Maw said, The weather is beautiful today, not so hot and muggy, so why don’t we take Molly to the dog park, and you all know Paw agreed! OH, I get so excited when we go there! THREE days in a row, I have gotten the privilege to go to the dog park. Maybe, just maybe, Maw and Paw will take me again today. It is really nice out, not hot and muggy so far! SO, this morning, I am going to move slow! I am going to get a good long nap in so if we go to the Dog park, I feel well rested and ready to take the car ride, smelling sensations, and then be entertained by watching humans and other canines down at the dog park! You should try coming to Paws Park at Murry’s Park off Riverfront Drive sometime. Well, off to take my nap :::waving my paw at ya:::!

Arkansas Razorback football ...

I just don’t understand in this beagle brain of mine, the fun and desire to play with a ball or any other toy for that matter. Now I could see if it was some of that summer sausage Paw and Maw enjoy eating, or ice cream, nuts, peanut butter, or any other kind of food, to exhaust that amount of energy. :::shaking my beagle head::: I just don’t get it.

Anyway, YEA Razorback Football Players!!! I am so proud of you!!! YES!!! :::four paw dance:::!
I knew you could do it! Okay, so they fumbled and dropped the football here and there, we all have our moments. But they made up for that by taking the ball from MSU FIVE times :::Howling with glee:::!

Okay, so this is what I want to share with you Hog Fans! Be a Hog Fan, whether they win or lose. :::tapping my right paw:::: Ya hear me! Stand behind them all the way. Just put yourself in their shoes. They run for that football, get tackled because of that football, get hurt, and even play when they do not feel the best, play on bad days, hot days, wet days, and cold days. If you had to do that, how do you think you would do. Now listen up :::flopping my ears to get your attention::: Let’s support our Razorbacks, win or lose, like real fans should. Just like I heard many of you do during the game last night, ... Just a thought from my beagle point of view.

Life is Good!

I am so ecstatic :::hopping back and forth on front paws::: Labor Day Weekend to me includes more time with Maw and Paw which probably means there will be a car ride, maybe to the Dog park :::tail wagging wildly::: more belly rubs, more attention, and more treats!!! :::Howling Happily:::!

Maw and I were reading in our leisure this morning, because Paw is off today, an article titled, Arkansans open homes to storm’s victims, by Andy Davis... in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette this morning. My my, we have such nice people here in Little Rock, and in the whole state of Arkansas. Even the local news stations are telling people about the state fair grounds for those in need of a place, because of Hurricane Katrina here in Little Rock, Arkansas. Lots of media folks are collecting water, and food, etc. to help people too. Which is great, for people know where to go and how to help! And last night on the evening news, just guess what I heard that meant so much to my floppy ears ... The Humane Society people are donating food for the homeless pets! As a canine myself, I know that sometimes we can be forgotten, ::: furrowed brow::: not important during such difficulties. Thank goodness we have people who really love pets, and won’t forget us!

Enough for today, I want to wish all of you a Safe and an enjoyable Holiday weekend. And Please, for goodness sakes, don’t forget to give us canines some extra attention this week, okay ...

Hurricane Katrina

Last night, I got to go to Murry’s Dog park :::tail wagging cheerfully::: I just love it there, so many smelling sensations, people to affectionately pet me, AND lots of doggie behinds to sniff and get to know. Oh man, I just love going there, because it is one of the best places in Little Rock for me to go have some fun!

Now on a more serious side of life. Hurricane Katrina :::downcast beagle eyes, and sadden heart:::! I can only relate to being homeless for a couple of weeks and being put into a shelter for a couple more weeks, until my Maw, that I now have, came and rescued me from the Maumelle Humane Society. I am so thankful that I was not homeless, as long as these folks effected by Hurricane Katrina, are going to be! Boy oh boy, :::sighing::: Leaving and losing many of their friends, and loved ones ... Jobs, Vehicles, homes, their own beds, favorite pillow, privacy, clothes, shoes, pictures, personal basic needs, all that they have ... Gone! :::shuddering at the thought of all the canines that did not make it because of the hurricane:::

Can you imagine how hungry many are, money is tight, or not any at all ... I can’t imagine going without so many treats in one day, PLUS my meal I get. Oh man, food is what I live for!!! My beagle brain always thought that no matter how poor you are, if you have plenty of food, you do not feel as poor as you really are.

Okay, pay attention now, :::tapping my paw:::, for she makes sense ... Maw says, when we feel down about something, hurting inside, you should do something for others, because that always makes you feel so much better.

I know many here in Arkansas, (because I DO read ya know) are doing something for others. I am so proud to say that our Gov. Mike Huckabee is helping so many of these, now homeless people. I also can hold my head and tail up high feeling proud, because of so many shelters and all the people involved here in my home state that are giving, donating, ... Giving food, water, a roof over their heads, sleep, etc.

Arkansas Democrat Gazette has a really good column about what those here in Arkansas are doing to help ... Column titled Arkansas Shelters Snowballed.

Thank you GOV. MIKE Huckabee, Hotels, Shelters, Churches, businesses, EACH AND EVERYONE, that are helping out in whatever way they can! YEA ARKANSAS!!!

Touchdown Club

Yesterday afternoon, I was by myself during the lunch hour. Paw and Maw were guest of David Bazzel at the Touchdown Club. I didn’t get invited, and it hurt my beagle feelings! But Paw Paw and Maw explained to me that canines are not allowed to come. I pouted the whole time they were gone, but it didn’t do me any good :::sigh:::. But you know, it would have been a blast for me. I would of been about to sniff people shoes and clothes, eat food that dropped on the floor, and get fawned over, petted by so many. Maybe one day they will allow canines to come into more people places, just maybe.

Maw and Paw said they enjoyed the time they had at the Touchdown Club get together. They saw many fine people. And Frank Broyles was the main speaker. Maw says she likes his classy southern gentleman way of talking. I heard Paw and Maw talking about Frank Broyles saying he really is a good speaker. Paw had his political thoughts on it, yet he really did enjoy it all. Maw was touched by Frank Broyles involvement with Alzheimer's disease, due to his wife Barbara who now has the disease. They were also pleased to see Jennings Osborne who has done so much for so many, and for Little Rock, including the human society :::tail wagging with delight:::! Paw saw some old friends and business acquaintances.

Now I have to mention another thing that I read in Paw Paw’s web site ...

Now you can imagine how he worded that and :::chuckle::: He stopped right then as he realized how it sounded, and then followed up with something to cover up that statement, which received much laughter too. Paw and Maw really got tickled, but everyone did understand what he was wanting to say. I have learned around here that media folks, speakers, or whoever says something in front of others that didn’t come out right, will get razzed but good. Bless Bazzel’s heart, he will get razzed, but I know Bazzel takes teasing pretty well.

Monday Blues?

Nope, I do not feel the Monday Morning Blues today! I am so Happy :::tail wagging high in the air:::! Paw and Maw, took me to Murry's Dog Park! You know, the one off of RiverFront Drive. I got to sniff and sniff and sniff. AND I met a new friend, named Nemo. Nemo was pushing me to play and bless Nemo's heart, I just don't warm up to other canines quickly. I really did like Nemo, but I have a reputation to keep up at the dog park. I mean, there are some aggressive natured dogs, and I do not like to play rough. If I let dogs like Nemo, who are just happy lovable dogs like myself play without taking time to get to know them, then the other dogs think they can play with me too. It pays to be aloof like my Paw Paw sometimes. You just never know who has good intentions and who does not when it comes to play time. Besides, My favorite thing to do are sniffing around, making my mark, and no leash, having the WHOLE park to explore without restraint!

:::Stretching & yawning::: Excuse me when I stretch, something I do quite often. It feels so good, and besides a day after the dog park, sniffing and rolling around on the ground in the humid heat, tends to make a sleepy kind of day. Besides it's been raining today, :::grunt::: ! People that know me, understand that I do not like the rain. It is like everyone uses the ground to pee. Not a dry spot anywhere for me to do my business, yet I have to find a spot. It is just so gross!!! Anyway, It makes a day like today perfect to lay around in the house. Besides, it won't bore me today after my active day yesterday. I am so glad Maw decided to take me to the Dog park. I think she overheard my prayers the night before,! I just got to tell you that Maw says it is good for Paw Paw to get to the Dog Park too, for it helps him develop his social skills too, :::chuckle:::! Sometimes Paw and Maw just crack me up!

Can you imagine all that rain, and flooding in New Orleans and along the coast!!! I am so glad I do not have to live anywhere that are known to have hurricanes, :::shudder at the thought:::! I really feel bad for everyone involved. Paw and Maw say prayers for them, and so do I.

Summer Heat

Paw and Maw said I should write in my blog voicing my feelings because venting this way is better than venting negatively. Okay, so listen up, here is what I need to express ... I have HAD it with the HEAT :::howling:::! The heat index here in Little Rock, AR. are in the THREE DIGITS this month. EVERYDAY!!! For Goodness sakes, enough is enough!!! AND My eyes leak, Maw says it's because i have allergies due to the heat and humidity ... I DON'T LIKE IT, leaky eyes are annoying! I feel HOT, CRABBY, and too TIRED to do anything much, which is BORING!
Geeeze, Maw just told me to settle down some. I think I will shut the door ... :::walking exasperated shutting the door::: I better becareful, she seems to have a good handle on what I am doing, even when I think she can't see me.
:::Yawning::: I am all worn out now ... seems like anything you do in this heat wears you out quickly. So I need to go outside to do my business and get to bed, after I say my prayers tonight ...
Dear God, this is Molly coming to ask You to make the weather a little less humid, a little cooler, and a day soon that Paw and Maw say it's a good day to go to the Dog Park ... Amen.

Papa did his best to keep it from me, but a few days ago I discovered irrefutable evidence that dangerous predatory creatures are roaming freely throughout the luxurious West Little Rock compound. It seems that some of out neighbors are keeping aggressive disease infested felines. Once I saw these photographs on papa's iMac, I immediately went into hiding. I have come out only for necessary nutrition, hydration, potty visits and treats.

I will be catching up on the latest developments on the soap opera otherwise known as Pat and Marie. There are a few reality TV updates and more. Keep checking back.

I need to make a perimeter check and get in a quick nap.

If you have no real life, like mama and papa, USA Network begins a new season of the OCD detective, Monk. Mom thanks old Lyncho has many of his characteristics. As a less-than-impartial witness, I must agree. Dad has some serious adjustment issues.

Earlier this week, when I was listening to dad's interview with Paul Greenberg, it was revealed that the editorial page editor of the Democrat-Gazette (I NEVER refer to it as the DOG) also has a soft spot for Monk. He even asked dad how many times he had to go back and check to see if he locked the front door. Man! If he only knew!

Although I am not complaining about being sent to the Rock Creek Pet Resort on the increasingly infrequent occasions when the folks head out of town, I do think I could use a little extra pampering.

The treats areappreciatedd, the cozy bed right next to yours is comfortable and I do enjoy my spa days at Dr. Paul's, and visits to the dog park, but honestly, isn't it about time we moved up to the next level?

New York State Supreme Court Justice Daniel Martin concluded the passionate custody battle over a five-pound chihuahua Friday, ruling that he belongs with the 12-year-old Mastic girl who first owned him.

This is mysterious. Why would anybody want to keep such a yappy little dog?

I guess I'm in no position to be throwing stones any other canine-Americans, considering my own personal history.

This is a victory for us guys, I guess. Don't most people know that dogs have value as individuals?

Abdul Accuser Faces Charges in Food Fight

This is the same kid who alleges that American Idol judge Paula Abdul coached him on wardrobe and song selection, and ultimately had an affair with him. ABC did an hour on this losers accusations.

Well, this maylay started as a harmless food fight. It was just some cheerios tossed around a hotel room but got a bit more serious.

All I can say is, "figures."

Fire Me, Please

I was about to say that “Fire Me, please” is the worst piece of feces ever floated across a television screen, but the competition would be awfully hard. There was, after all, that recent reality show that borrowed the story line from Gilligan’s Island – and I ain’t talking Survivor here!

“Fire Me, Please” is a shot at Donald Trump, I guess. The point of the show is to work in some small business and be obnoxious. Who can tell it apart from real life? Last night, the contestants pretended to barf loudly in a public restroom, parade around the store without shoes, and tell the boss how to run the store.

Whoever managers to get fired before 3 PM, wins. There are two contestants and the one closest to 3 gets the 25k, if they both get canned.

Papa did not seem to be too amused. I guess this one cuts a little too close to the bone. Maybe old Lyncho could be a contestant. The only problem is that he would probably get tossed before noon!

Hell's Kitchen

Sometimes strategy can get you al messed up. Last night on Hell’s Kitchen, one group of aspiring chefs had the brilliant idea of using a bit of gamesmanship to gain an advantage. The plan was to slam the opposing forces, who were charged with running the kitchen, with turning out very many of the most difficult dish, lasagna.

That’s what my pal Garfield would have ordered, but 80 diners at Hell’s Kitchen needed to be coaxed.

In the end, your evil deeds will find you out and that is what happened. As is the case with all reality shows, the final scenes involve sending somebody home. This time it was the biggest blowhard, the young man who touted himself as an “Executive Chef.” Figures.

Gordon Ramsay is a hybrid character. Jeff Probst and Simon Cowell wrapped into one repulsive ball of insults. Last night, it was about weight. Ramsay even got on the customers and told one complainer to loose weight.

I’ll be glad when Big Brothers starts.

My Week Off

It wasn’t intentional. It just happened that, after getting lose at Paws Park, I spent a week away from the blog. It wasn’t that I really wanted freedom, but somebody left the gate open and, as you must realize by now, my nose is a force that must be obeyed.
Anyway, I need to thank Gabby. She is the really cool young woman who started searching for me just as soon as mom and dad noticed I was lost. She found me eating grass and nniffing around in Murry park and got my attention right away. Actually, I had no idea what I had done. It was just one of those dog moments. Lyncho was so glad to seee me. He didn’t even get mad.

Papa’s pal Steve Freeman, who owns the radio station (WAI Radio.com linked on the right paw column), has been battling a stomach virus and papa has been rather snowed. Now things are getting back to normal and will be posting every day.

Jeb Bush Calls For Another Schiavo Investigation

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush asked a prosecutor today to investigate why Terri Schiavo collapsed 15 years ago, calling into question how long it took her husband to call 911 after he found her.

This is for real and the audacity of this over-moneyed and under-principled Bush clan is breathtaking. One day after an autopsy report proved that Terri Schiavo was, in fact, in a permanent vegetative coma, Bush has essentially called Michael Schiavo a murderer. Bush puts another spin on it but what other realistic conclusion can be drawn. It is a crude smear tactic designed to intimidate right thinking people from dealing with such venomous political snakes and to satisfy the religious lunatics who wanted to abolish the legally established familial right of a spouse to state the wishes of an incapacitated partner. These loonies use “family values” as a ruse and a joke.

To suggest that Michael Schiavo should have called 911 quicker is rather odd at this late date. If Governor Bush has always had this suspicion, why wait for today? That’s a rhetorical question. We all know why and it is sufficient proof of what dangerous people these are.

Runaway Bride, Runaway Ambition

Some of you probably thought that Molly was being unrealistically tough on Georgia’s “runaway bride,” Jennifer Wilbanks. I spend some time with old Lyncho and he can be very vindictive, especially towards the wealthy. He was totally steamed over the entire episode, right down to Wilbanks’ cozy deal with prosecutors in which she entered a “no contest” plea to one felony count of making a false statement in exchange for a year or probation and a tiny amount of restitution.

Now, gentle readers, other shoes are dropping all over the place and the local law enforcement officials are feeling very used since Wilbanks has sold the movie rights to a New York publicist. Jennifer Wilbanks, pathetic suffering rich girl, will get even richer and taxpayers must stand by like fools.

As always, the bozo public servants will immediately suggest the wrong solution. The last thing anybody needs is another useless and intrusive law. Anybody should be able to write a book or sell a story. Let’s not go crazy on this. The real problem is that Wilbanks’ wealth and social status made her an object of pity in the otherwise retributive judicial system.

This is the obvious result of what happens when there are two standards of justice. She should have been tossed directly into jail with the lower class untouchables.

Bishop Blasts Internet News

THE Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has criticized the new web-based media for “paranoid fantasy, self-indulgent nonsense and dangerous bigotry”. He described the atmosphere on the World Wide Web as a free-for-all that was “close to that of unpoliced conversation”.

He must be reading this blog. He certainly seems to have bloggers in mind.

If he thinks this is bad, he should try Rush Limbaugh or FOX News. These guys are so far out there, they actually believe the misrepresentations which pass for news.

Dear Mr. Archbishop, Sir, a little paranoia can be a good thing. If they are really out to get you, you’re not paranoid.

Lynch is Not a Bad Name

The United States Senate, absent a few Republicans including both Mississippi Senators, apologized today for its' failure to condemn the practice of hanging suspected persons without the benefits of due process.

We must wonder how people can claim to love the flag and still toss out the Constitution.

Some guy named Lynch hanged some folks and so it just stuck to all kinds of unfortunate conduct.

One more time for anybody who did not get it when dad talked about it this morning on WAI Radio.com. An apology for such a terrible crime tends to trivialize the offense right down to the level of bad manners. An apology is only for real when it is unconditional and offered directly to the offended party.

The Senate should make up for past indifference by looking out for the poor and suffering people. How about some action of prescription drugs? How about ending the war in Iraq? Why not save Social Security?

No apologies. On this one the boneheads are right for the wrong reasons.

More Bad News for Clinton-Haters

The above linked item will be a sour note for Mr. Rush Limbaugh, who once stated on his daily fantasy show that his goal was to financially ruin Bill and Hillary Clinton. Now that is one patriotic American, and a fine Christian gentleman.

The Clinton net worth is about $10 million dollars and they have paid off all legal bills from the unsubstantiated and hateful allegations made against the former president. Those fees include $100,000 to the Little Rock firm of Wright, Lindsey and Jennings.

Schiavo Autopsy Results Back Husband

So who could be surprised by that? Things get pretty wild around here on those rare occasions when papa actually wins an argument and this is one of those times. Terri Schiavo was both blind and in a persistent vegetative state. Despite this enormous tragedy, her husband Michael was forced to endure a decade of viscous mistreatment at the hands of her nutcase parents which finally culminated in federal intervention.

George W. Bush knows what is best for every individual family in America and, in conjunction with his religious lunatic friends, he is not afraid to use the power of government against regular citizens like Michael Schiavo. Despite irrefutable proof, he will not change his position. This is pure delusion.

One Sick Puppy

Tom Snedden, the vengeful prosecutor of Santa Barbara County, California, is steaming after an interview on MSNBC. Typical whiner, he got is feelings hurt when put under questioning about some photos he took of Michael Jackson's private parts ten years ago. Sneddon has had his vendetta about that long and Jackson's lawyers think Sneddon may use those snapshots publicly to embarrass Jackson. He has already been denied the use of the pictures in court.

Michael may be a socially retarded oddball, but Tom Sneddon is much worse. The jury saw through the pretense.

My Huge Saturday

Saturday was a huge day for this canine-American and the photos will soon be posted on the WAI Radio.com website. It was quite a surprise to be escorted to dad’s new professional digs in the luxurious Plaza West building in Central Arkansas. I had my first elevator ride, which occurred only after being dragged inside. Excuse me if I am a bit skeptical of human technology, but you guys do not exactly have a glorious history. Even with the gut-churning stop, my inaugural trip on a lift was more fun that Six Flags Over Sheridan.

The new studios are just too cool and there is a new feature unlike any other broadcast facility in Central Arkansas. A custom painted mural depicts the WAI personalities as the Godfathers of Radio. The equipment is neat and I inspected everything. Photos will be up soon and maybe even one with me getting a big hug from Stephen Freeman’s cute little girl, Sophie.

Next stop, Paws Park! The weather was perfect and my old friend Max appeared late in the afternoon. You may not remember this but I had a big crush on Max last year and we did hit it off again. Papa handed out business cards to any stranger who would talk with him. It is a bit embarrassing, but a dog can not chose his pack.

I am worn out, but you can expect further entries here soon. Naptime!

My Week in Review

Sorry for the frequent absences, but other duties and kept me away. My other job as household pet requires almost constant availability for activities designed to comfort distressed human beings, such as petting and ear scruffing. Lyncho keeps the weirdest hours, getting up before dawn and doing the work of ten men! Three or four of those guys are very energetic six are slackers. OK? Still, this shift to “Pat Classic” has meant a load of new work.

This new routine has been cutting into my nap time and I have also spent many hours listening to the new WAI Radio.com, which is linked on the right paw column. It’s playing music over the weekend but many of the first week’s shows are in the archives. The Monday show exists, but in 24 segments. Uncle Stephen was still learning how to program the fancy new computer that handles such things. He PROMISES to post it!

Papa has turned his full attention to getting guests booked and there are some good ones set for next week. Shane Broadway, the lawmaker from Saline County, is on Tuesday. Max Brantley from Arkansas Times on Wednesday. The Times blog is linked on the right paw column. Max always has plenty of cool political news and state happenings over there.

By the end of the week, papa had it all together. He even quit eating the mike! Joe Cobb is getting organized with “The Official Morning Update” and the noon show. Ray Lincoln and Stephen Freeman have a big winner with “No Holds Barred.” Starting next week, you can expect these programs to recycle in the evening and overnights.

All the excitement of launching WAI Radio has had me busting my beagle butt and I sure hope there is a trip to the dog park scheduled for this weekend. I will keep you up on my news research after I catch a little nap.

Reacting to Lake View

Papa insists that he likes the old fat Mike Huckabee better than the lean mean griping machine. The Huckster is hacked at the Arkansas Supreme Court for today’s decision that might lead to reopening the Lake View decision.

His football comparison is way off the mark. Public education is not a game and the justices are not referees. The high court ruled on a long-standing problem, the sorry state of schools. They set a deadline for a legislative solution and Governor Huckabee certainly bears a big part of the blame for missing that target date. Even after time ran out, the Supremes did not rush to take charge. The stated an intention to appoint special masters and that got things moving. The fact is that lawmakers and the governor always lag behind in addressing public education.

About a year ago when it approved the special masters report, which endorsed the legislative package, the court said that if the General Assembly did not follow through, they would reopen the case. Many school districts have objected to actions in the most recent session. Maybe they are right, maybe not. The court has sent the masters back to work and that is hardly judicial activism.

The court re-appointed Bradley Jesson, former chief justice of the state Supreme Court, and David Newbern, a former state Supreme Court justice, as special masters. These guys are clear thinkers and they are fast.

Huckabee’s reaction was bad, but Asa Hutchinson’s was worse. Although Lyncho generally like Asa, he should realize that the court is not trying to run schools. Far from it, the Supreme Court is doing what it said it would do and is behaving with great restraint. Mr. Hutchinson is just campaigning. Too bad.

The Cut

You would never believe how busy things have been around this place. Dad gets up at 3, but he still won’t let me out till about 6. I think that is pretty mean. He spends a lot of time working and napping, but tonight we spent some quality family time watching a new reality show.

The cutt rocks even if it does exceed the specified network homosexual ratio by 60%. Tommy Helfiger is looking for the next great design talent. He has 16 aspiring style trend setters and designers. Do not believe the dumb critical pre-release reviews. Marie and papa agree that “The Cut” rocks.

There is the huge project and a tight time deadline. It is somewhat reminiscent of being made to construct a new radio station from the ground up, image and staff it, and put the thing on the air by a certain date. The intensity of “The cut” is real and we are betting that viewers will catch on. There is plenty of human drama among the youngish cast members.

The contestants were divided into two teams and you can figure out the structure of the program from there. Hilfiger is personable and tough. He has an engaging sort of aloofness that is a bit disarming. This show is well cast. This one gets four-and-a-half woofs. CBS has a hit.

Why do they call it WAI Radio?

Many of you have been asking about the call letters. What is the meaning of WAI? Dad has asked that I respond.

As I understand it, and I was not around back then, when the first radio stations were begun back in the 1920’s, often the call sign had three letters. WGN, WLS, WLW, WOR, WBZ and so on. Out west of the Mississippi, some of the old ones did not begin with the familiar “K” but with a “W.” WOW, WMT and WKY come to mind.

This completely new and unique station has three letters in the call sign that begins with a “W” as a tribute to the brave pioneers of radio broadcasting. The intention was to identify with the people who took big risks to build a new system of information and entertainment.

And that is how WAI Radio got named.

WAI is a hit!

Things are finally starting to settle down here and it’s a good thing. I have never seen papa like this. I mean he is actually working. He has been at the office long hours and even pulling an overnighter/ The end of it all is that WAI Radio is on the air.

Actually, it would be more accurate to say that WAI is broadcasting worldwide on the internet. The archiving software works, but it did some darned interesting stuff to the launch day. Everybody claims to be working hard to get the programs on the archives page. You will find the WAI website on the right paw side of this page.

Monday was a huge day. Mr. Freeman says that the station experienced around 22 thousand “hits” on that day and the WAI home page had about 31 thousand “hits” I have a hard time grasping the concept that getting hit is a good thing.

Lyncho is a lot less grumpy and starting to get into a routine, which is a darned good thing since I am looking forward to some quality time at the dog park!

Crisis of Conscience?

Lyncho has become "Mr. Watergate Trivia" ever since W. Martin Felt has been identified as the source of Washington Post stories on the Nixon White House. He seems to remember everyone and everything EXCEPT who it was that revealed the oval office recording system.

The Chicago Tribune (linked above) reports today that old Tricky Dick was on to Felts back in '73.

In a tape that was recorded May 12, 1973, Nixon brought up Felt's name in a telephone conversation with Chief of Staff Alexander Haig, saying that Felt apparently had "blown the whistle" on the administration's involvement in investigating Ellsberg. Referring to Felt, Nixon told Haig, "Everybody is to know that he is a goddamn traitor and just watch him damned carefully." But he added that he was going to leave it to the "new man to clean house" at the FBI, a reference to the vacancy at the bureau after acting director L. Patrick Gray had stepped down two weeks before.

Nixon was such a colorful guy!

Now some people are wondering if Felt should have "played by the rules" and let Nixon get away with obstruction of justice. Is this supposed to be some sort of moral dilemma? The highest ranking official in the country uses his office to protect the illegal activities of his own campaign. The list of crimes is endless.

Although Nixon's lies are nowhere as serious as those of George W. Bush, he still needed to go and got off damn easy too.

Some doper columnist at the Trib is suggesting that Linda Tripp ought to be considered a hero of the same degree as Felt. Now, papa would like a hit off that guy's bong. Linda Tripp? Psycho woman who ruins her best friend? Clinton is a liar too. He fibbed about the stuff that guys always fib about and nobody got hurt. It was a serious error in judgment, not a crime. Clinton has paid dearly and Linda Tripp is a despicable human being. End of story.

Dad really gets worked up on this stuff.

Remember the excellent arcade game Whack-a-Mole? In it, you held a padded mallet and tried to smack moles that popped up on a console in front of you.

The drive to ban cities from offering wireless services is like that. You put the smackdown on it here, it pops up again there.

Save Muni Wireless reports that, just as a WiFi ban dies in the Texas Legislature, a Congressman from Dallas wants to ban municipal networks nationally:

U.S. Representative Pete Sessions of Dallas has just introduced federal legislation to outlaw muni networks nationally. HR 2726 (the ludicrously misnamed "Preserving Innovation in Telecom Act of 2005") would give the phone company veto power over any municipal projects they don't like.

Ironically, Rep. Sessions' district is home to many of the communication industry leaders that would be most harmed by this legislation.

Time to get out your padded mallets, WiFi fans.

Hell's Kitchen Serves Up Some Fun

It's the new FOX reality series. Gordon Ramsey is an internationally famous chef who terrorizes 12 upstart culinary artists. He's mean, but it's fun anyway.

Everybody else has already said it, so I will too. It's "Apprentice Meets Iron Chef>"

Iron Chef, especially the original Japanese shows from the early 90's was an amusing and entertaining contest that seemed to mock sportscasters. In fact, the host WAS a fixture on Japanese baseball broadcasts. There have been efforts to revive IC with an American flavor, but it just does not work. Perhaps culture here in the states is too straightforward. Who could imagine an American chef hitting an employee and getting away with it?

Lyncho would like to have seen a bit more of the cooking and there is something "fishy" about this large LA restaurant where it all happens. The "customers" have to know that something is up, but the TV audience has not been filled in.

Ah, well. It is more than nastiness. It is drama and good food. Catch it sometime and let me know what you think.

More Bad News for Elephants

While most of you may have taken the Memorial Day weekend off, I have been sniffing out the news often overlooked by mainstream publications. The above linked item concerns the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee and a circus owner. Both are bad actors, which makes this one confusing and unsatisfying.

The Elephant Sanctuary shows up al over the country trying to steal zoo elephants for its' operation. This is a bunch of clever parasites who have found a cause and a revenue stream. A few years ago, this same bunch tried to steal the elephants from Little Rock's zoo.

Our zoo certainly needed some work but that was no reason to abscond with the pacaderms. The circus named in the above story is obviously not a fit place for any animal or human being. Something needs to be done but that is no reason to cave in to an organization of activists which is trying to make itself the national monopoly for elephant welfare.

One more thing. Arkansas has a great place for retired elephants. Everybody should support the Riddle Elephant Farm near Guy. These folks are the best and they are honest.

Desperate in Tupelo

It looks like cosmetics giant Mary Kay will not include ABC's hit series Desperate Housewives in its' fall ad campaign. The Chicago Tribune reports that there was some pressure from the American Family Association, which is run by a guy named Don Wildmon in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Tupelo, Mississippi? So it's bound to be ignorant and backwards, right?

Lyncho finds that he agrees with Wildmon every rare so often, but does think that this is another case where the religious nuts come off looking like religious nuts.

Desperate Housewives is the program in which one of the lead characters is NOT having an abortion and Wildmon is mad. Yes, there is a lot of sexual tension on Wisteria Lane but there is an even darker side.

Wildmon is not even a little concerned about the smug self-satisfied materialism rampant both on this program and American culture. He certainly will not have one word about the greedy and selfish commercialism which is smothering any spark of generosity and compassion.

I guess Wildmon REALLY hates Six Feet Under and Deadwood. Big Al would have a choice adjective for the Tupelo flash.

Mayberry SWAT

Barney would have been after Andy non-stop about the intense danger posed by moonshine boys, jaywalkers, sidewalk spitters, and the countless other ruffians that typically terrorize small town residents. Being a wise and patient man, Andy would never give in to such grandiose delusions, but authorities in Truman, Arkansas have bought into the big lie.

The Jonesboro Sun reports on the new SWAT team in Truman without telling how many cops there are in the entire PD. How many do they need in Truman?

The story pretty much speaks for itself. Damn sad state of affairs when Barney calls the shots.

Flight 1420 is Down!

The widow of American Flight 1420, which went down at Little Rock National Airport in June of 1999, has filed a lawsuit against the airport charging that conditions there caused the crash. Sit down for this one.

I was not even born when Flight 1420 crashed on a stormy night at Little Rock National Airport, but dad has told me about the frightening thunderstorm. It must have been a terrifying event and the victims have not been compensated nearly enough.

There were many college students aboard. Some of them were musicians and singers. Dozens survived because of the obstruction at the end of the runway. Without whatever it was to stop the speeding jet, the plan and passengers would have all drowned in the Arkansas River. ItÂs little surprise that airport officials may have phonied up airport records about runway conditions. Hey, this is Little Rock! Surely nobody expects good government here!

Lyncho gets really hot when he talks about the pilot. He was the senior man out of AmericanÂs Chicago hub. The other officers were comparative rookies and nobody had the guts to suggest that the old man was out of his mind for trying to land in conditions that were far worse than unfavorable. He was logging in the needed hours to keep certification and he was exhausted. The flight should have diverted. End of story.

The pilotÂs lack of rest probably contributed a lot to the string of bad decisions and conditions at Adams Field only slightly. There is no happy ending here.

If you donÂt mind a mere beagle getting philosophical, all we can do is pray that when we face our hour of testing, we have patience and good judgment.

Fairness Gets the Finger

So there’s a new development in “The Case of the Fictitious Finger.” After the arrest of a woman for cooking up the entire scheme to bilk a national fast food chain, it seemed unlikely that there could be further newsworthy developments. Never presume a story is over till it is over.

The newest news is that the accused woman’s husband is now charged for procuring the severed digit. He got it from a co-worker after an industrial accident. Can you hear the banter?

“Boy, I bet that hurt!”

“Hurt? Ah, hell no. I loose a finger every week. Nothing to it.”

“That’s good to know. I was wondering, could I possibly borrow your finger?”

“I’ll give you the finger, but you’ll have to pay.”

“I thought it worked the other way around.”

(Big belly laugh goes here.)

And so the plans for the perfect crime were laid.

Is it me, or does this story make anybody else queasy?

I supposed the accused swindlers are innocent until proven guilty. I am wondering why the professional journalists who have diligently reported every nauseating detail of this ghastly story continue to name the burger joint in every story. This crime is costing big money every time the national chain is singled out. I don’t own any stock in that company, and far be it from me to stick up for big business, but they are blameless. Should that not count for something?

Are We LOST?

Anybody ever have a high school science teacher explode right before your eyes?

The Revival of the Art of Satire

There were great dramatic moments on last night’s American Idol. Carrie’s duo was so flawlessly performed that it seemed effortless. Bo seemed less at ease with Skynard. The rest of the “idols” showed off why they were “the rest.”

Producers apparently felt obliged to answer allegations of impropriety against Paula Abdul by invoking a most ancient and sometimes self-destructive tool, satire. This is one of Lyncho’s weapons of choice. He is the master and we both howled our approval at last night’s skit on Simon’s alleged improprieties.

These days, all good writing is to be applauded and the story of Randy’s gripe with Simon was completely on target. It successfully portrayed the loser accuser as a manipulator and opportunist. Without ever taking direct aim, AI seemed to answer charges that Paula favored a former contestant. Nobody is much interested in a long listing of facts. ABC made a flimsy case and it was quickly disassembled right down to the answering machines and record deals. Very kewl. .

Satire is not used nearly enough in public debate and, considering the high risk, that may be a good thing. Lyncho thought the FOX rebuttal was masterful. Any thoughts?

Who is Carrie Underwood?

Now that she's scored the million dollar recording deal and the private jet and the sexy red spots car, in keeping with America's long-standing journalistic tradition. It is now time to systematically destroy Carrie Underwood.

Who is this latest singing phenomenon. Details of her rural Oklahoma upbringing are sketchy and colored by network publicity propagandists. Yes, there are abundant photographic records of Ms. Underwood performing agricultural tasks, but what is the real scoop? Let's come right to the point.

Why is a 22 year old young adult still living at home?

You guessed it. Old lard butt was reading the Atlanta Constitution and he went ballistic. Of course, he used to be her biggest fan but now, old hostilities have manifested themselves. The demons are at work. That is part of being a creative genius, I guess.

Marie tried to explain, but it was a waste of time. When he was 22, Lyncho had already held inconsequential radio jobs in Clinton, Oklahoma; Boone, Iowa; and Great Falls, Montana. He left home with only a few bucks and a trunk full of worthless crap and joined the broadcast circus. He was brave, if not foolish.

In other words, Pat made a mess of his life and so should everybody else. He moved his meager worldly goods to those splendid garden spots and got nothing but the glory in return. He thinks all young people should leave home penniless right after high school.

I'll be glad when he gets back to work and can vent his vast accumulated wisdom on an international audience.

MORE Good Press for WAI Radio

I don't know who is in charge of public relations for dad's new station, but they are getting some great coverage. The latest story to reach my attention comes from the Memphis Commercial Appeal. It is linked above. There are whispers that the avalanche of favorable press is not yet done. Stay tuned for further information.

More equipment arrived at the studios today and papa says he is personally taking charge of the installation. Don't
worry, they will never let it happen. He's lucky to be allowed in the studio.

LeMay Photography is still cleaning up after yesterday's food fight between Lyncho and Ray Lincoln. It's always bizarre when those guys get together. Ray will be a "contributor" to the afternoon show and Pat Classic will be on weekdays 8 to noon starting June 6, God willing.

Farm Girl Carrie Underwood should the next American Idol, if the patriotic hard-working center of America holds. I like Bo too. The right people made it o the end and critics of American Idol were proven wrong.

MEMO to Fox 16: You guys are operated by Clear Channel and you have more money than Dick Cheney. Would it be possible to test the audio for your in-studio guests? The AC hum may be an added benefit for some audio freaks, but it is an annoyance to the rest of us.

MEMO to Channel 7: There is no such thing as an "alleged suspect." The individual is the suspect, no allegation about that.

Idiots Dare Call it Treason

Molly wants to say, first of all, that if it were not for politics, guys like this Congressman Bachus from Alabama would be taking up needed spaces in sheltered workshops.

Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., takes issue with remarks on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, first aired May 13, in which Maher points out the Army missed its recruiting goal by 42 percent in April.

"More people joined the Michael Jackson fan club," Maher said. "We've done picked all the low-lying Lynndie England fruit, and now we need warm bodies."

Army Reserve Pfc. England was accused of abusing prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

"I think it borders on treason," Bachus said. "In treason, one definition is to undermine the effort or national security of our country."

Maher got in trouble for the unpardonable sin of telling the truth when one of his shows was pulled from HBO. He said that the 9-11 hijackers were not cowards. Molly agrees with Maher. They were not cowards. Stupid? Yes. Lunatics? Wuff. Cowards? Nope. All kinds of crazy people are willing to die for crazy stuff.

I sniffed out the Constitutional definition of treason, the only one anybody ought to are about. Article III, Section 3, "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court."

Who are our enemies? Who have we declared war against? Which of those enemies has Bill Maher helped by a joke which ought to improve recruiting, if taken to heart?

The only people who take this kind of rot seriously are as stump stupid as the people who say it. It's a JOKE. Got it?

As chief research analyst for Pat Classic, beginning June 6 on WAI Radio.com, I get to see some fairly upsetting news and most of it rolls right off my fur. This one has set me off.

The obstructionists have finally gone too far, as reported in today's Houston Chronicle. The do-good sissy boys are worried about a dog park moving into the neighborhood and the resulting SMELLS. Smells? Just when I think I've heard everything. I am irate and it Lyncho were on the air, I'd call him up and howl!

Hate Crimes

My general assignment here is to sniff out the news that might be of interest to Lyncho fans. I am doing exactly what Brummett talks about in his column, regurgitating. It’s not glamorous, but it’s a job.

One of my regular sources for topics is the very excellent Arkansas Times blog, conveniently linked in the right paw column. The only problem is that it can be depressing. Usually, Max Brantley and his vast army of researchers and reporters hit the nail right on the head. Sometimes they miss the point. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it’s a doozey.

If you scroll down to the item about hate crimes, there is a dastardly story about two assaults that seem to be connected, in one case, to race, and in another, to sexual orientation. I have also linked the original Jonesboro Sun story above. Lyncho still says, “Seems to be” because he is no mind reader. It may look like there were some hateful reasons for a violent action, but that is an outward appearance. To charge somebody with a “hate crime” presumes supernatural powers. Police already claim to have such abilities, especially when reconstructing “probable cause” under which harmless individuals were subjected to stops and unconstitutional searches.

There’s another problem. The concept of “hate crimes” tends to make the lives and safety of one favored class superior to others. It is probably true that homosexuals and racial minorities tend to have a tough time and, if they are not protected by the laws that already exist, it is difficult to imagine that new legislation will help. That starts a bad trend. If it is especially heinous to attack one class of people, it might be OK to shoot at another. For example, it might become justifiable homicide to go after journalists, liberals or Democrats. Just a thought.

Doggie Day Care

Although papa has now, thankfully, joined the ranks of working people, I do not expect to end up in day care. If that should happen, there are some fine places in Central Arkansas, but I am sure none like the one highlighted by the New York Daily News.

I cane across this story while sniffing around the national events doing research for old fatso. I think some of the amenities sound fine but I am going to take a rain check on the oatmeal bath.

Top Dog Parks Ranked (Honest!)

Paws Park was not on top. It did not even make the top five, but you still need to read the feature from the Houston Chronicle. I am going to have dad send this to Brian Day, who is even more powerful in Little Rock city government.

The top park is named for Millie Bush. Remember that former presidential canine-American? About a year ago, papa sarcastically suggested that if the downtown power boys had wanted a dog park, it would have been constructed at the presidential library and named for Buddy. Who would have thunk it?

The Millie Park in Houston is very cool. It even has fake fire hydrants and 3 wading pools.

I sure hope somebody remembers to take me to the park this weekend. I've been bathed and groomed, so I really need to get rid of that repulsive fragrance they insist on putting on me. I need to work up a good sweat and roll in the grass!

Graduation Day

Lyncho's New Gig

It’s not that I’ve been slacking, but papa has been most busy the past few days and we have not had that special bonding time so necessary for a man and his canine-American. He is definitely excited about the new gig and things have been pretty intense. The start date is June 6 for WAI Radio.com. It’s brand new and under construction right now. You will notice the WAI link on the right paw side of this page. It might be a smart move to click that link and get it bookmarked right now.

Of course, you need to be following lyncho.com. There are plenty of cool pics of WAI personalities and more are on the way. Mr. Camera Freak took many digital photos of men performing real work building the new studios. Dad says that may be complete by late next week.

His new show will be called Pat Classic and starts weekday mornings at 8. So, get up, get showered, take the kids to school and settle into your work and a day of blissful loafing. Old fatso will help and he is already lining up the guests. Of course, Pat will have extended rants on current events. He will get the newsmakers on AND HE WILL MAKE THEM TELL THE TRUTH. I am panting with excitement at how he is going to terrorize the evildoers.

Many of you have asked if it is free to listen and, of course, the answer is YES. The program will have an Arkansas focus and flavor, but people can listen anywhere on earth. Management expects Lyncho to develop a substantial cult following in Bulgaria. One more thing, YES, you can call in and send email to the show.

A lot has happened since Papa left the Arkansas broadcast community four-and-a-half years ago. He will be spilling his guts about everything that has befallen him, his opinions on all the local media folks, and how he overcame a sense of worthlessness and depression after not getting the job as Pope.

You will still hear dad’s irrepressible liberal views, but he is not on any kind of mission to change the world. He will have guests and invite callers of all persuasions. It is going to rock. Starting at 6 o’clock in the morning on June 6, you can listen by launching the station from your browser. It transmits at 56k bandwidth, which is user-friendly for folks with dial-up connections as well as the broadband users.

I’ll try to pry some more information out of him next time he’s scruffing my ears and I will pass it along right here. Yes, as one delighted fan wrote, it looks like the Job Fairy has landed in Pat Lynch’s life once again. Who would have expected. It?

Molly Speaks Out on Stupid Dog Owners

I have linked a story from today's Houston Chronicle concerning some longhorn dimwit who taped his Labrador Retriever's mouth shut. No matter what his equally stupid brother says, anybody who owns a dog should know that us guys do not sweat and we need to drool. We need to keep that tongue action going. The ignoramus got two years in prison for the death of his pet. As a leading member of the Canine-American community, I would like to say "hear, hear!"

On a somewhat related note, I have been asked to comment on last night's LOST, which included a very poignant subplot concerning a canine-American cast member. Yes, the little boy was very wise and loving in dealing with Vincent and there is no way Molly is swimming out into the ocean even if mom and dad are on the raft with every treat left on earth. Thank you very much.

Consumer Protection?

FOX 16 is working hard to keep mankind safe from the ever-present danger of inaccurate checkout scanners. The highly trained professional journalists purchased dozens of items from three Little Rock stores and discovered that, yes, there were errors. Sadly for our aspiring Edward R. Morrows, all of the mistakes were in the favor of the customer. What a dilemma! What to do? The only decent thing was to head back to the same stores and buy more stuff with the longing presumption that surely this time some huge rip-off would be uncovered. Alas, there were several more errors but only one in the merchant's favor.

Where is the fairness? How can such a brilliant story idea (no doubt dreamed up and assigned by some idiot out-of-town consultant) not produce the dramatic results? Where are the emotional denials of wrongdoing mixed with convulsive tears? Heck, if you push some middle level manager hard enough, he might even resort to suicide. Now THAT would be a story. OK, sometimes innocent people suffer, but the public has a right to know!

All FOX 16 achieved was written statements from anonymous corporate hacks, although the package did take up about four minutes of a 60 minute newscast. Fortunately for the gentle and law abiding citizens of central Arkansas, Channel 16 promises to stay on the story.

Never mind that Fonda has apologized. That makes it look as if she has already been held accountable for playing nice with the North Vietnamese. Hell, I dropped out of hunting school. Grappette Rocks Again!

Channel 11 deserves some kind of Pulitzer Prize for bringing out some really good news. Grappette, the famous beverage of long ago, will soon be back on the shelves of Wal Mart. This is bigger than the Rolling Stones summer concert!

You might remember that Grappette was manufactured in Arkansas but, through some twists of changed ownership, has not been available in the United States for over 30 years. Papa has not been so happy since the last time Joan London got a full profile shot. It takes a lot to make old Lyncho happy and this one does the trick. Orangette, his childhood favorite, will also be on the shelves.

Wal Mart is really really serious about getting back its' supposedly good name. Cheap clothes manufactured by Chinese slave labor? No problem. Electronics assembled by pre-kindergarten workers in Malaysia? No problem. Union organizers dumped in abandoned wells? No problem. Undocumented immigrants perform janitorial services under lockdown conditions? No problem.

This is the Hail Mary of all desperate corporate power plays, but it will probably work. You can pour a big ol' bottle into my bowl any day!

Arkansas' junior United States Senator is apparently still working on some sort of filibuster compromise with Republicans. The Arkansas Times blog (linked on your right paw side) has the latest on that. It makes dad really upset with Democrats get cozy with the enemy. If we wanted elephants, we would have voted for them. Now, I have nothing against elephants but I will keep out of their way. Dad says there is not much use in having an opposing part if they are not OPPOSING. He's pretty hard core.

And when you browse the Times blog, you will also note another great scoop on WAI Radio.com. Papa brags on that Joe Cobb guy like he was some sort of conquering hero. I just can't believe that Lyncho and Ray Lincoln did not get bounced from Sonny Williams last Friday night. Talk about being on your best party manners. Molly has been a little grumpy here lately. When dad gets back to work, I am sure I will settle down. One things that makes the fur on my neck stand straight up is how these business con men swindle taxpayers and the chamber of commerce types go along with it. This will soon be happening more in Arkansas thanks to a state constitutional amendment which passed recently. Yes, Lyncho was against it.

Survivor Countdown

I would like to personally like top management of WAI Radio across the face for giving dad a job. He is a total pest at home, prone to terrible mood swings, and constant sarcastic outbursts. Things have gotten a lot busier but we do still enjoy quality time as a little dysfunctional family watching totally useless reality shows.

Survivor is the granddaddy of them all and, if you watched last night program, Ian is a big old dumbass. He wins a car in a reward challenge and then takes Tom with him to a mansion resort. How much brains does it take to figure out that this leaves the 3 remaining chicks to plot among themselves. That is exactly what happened and it was an even bigger shocker that Ian survived the night. It was the second ugliest tribal council in Survivor history, second only to truck driver woman’s lecture on “snakes and rats.”

Sunday night is the big 3 hour season finale. That is entirely too much time for a television show, but don’t ring our phone.

Radio Daze

If you were one of the 16 people listening to a previous early morning radio show, you might remember an interview with a guy in New York City known as the Crazy Cabbie. He does a show up there and got himself in serious trouble for tax evasion. The headline takes you straight to the story in the New York Daily News.

Papa got very worked up by this story and asked me to howl a bit on his behalf. Mr. Cabbie used to be part of the Howard Stern show and sometime during the course of chit-chat happened to mention how very funny it was that he had been cheating the IRS. Now, dad might not want me to put it this way, but doesnt that tend to prove that broadcasting does not attract the highest caliber people? After all, if you have committed a felony, what possible benefit can there be in confessing to thousands of people.

Gentle readers, this is the IRS. The goof-ball is going to jail for a year because of his broadcast braggadocio.

This guy should be charged with aggravated stupidity. Molly believes that everybody should pay whatever taxes are justly owed. So, heres the bizarre part.

The judge said that being in radio made the crime worse. Could he possibly mean that radio jocks are role models? I think His Honor has been into the cheap Scotch a little too early in the morning. Get this straight, just because some guy on the radio says he does something is no excuse for you to do the same thing. That applies except when some advertiser had paid top dollar for a personal endorsement. Otherwise, all radio personalities (except papa) are total maroons.

While I was sniffing around internet sites, your news hound came across something in the Arkansas Times blog screaming out for comment. I think I can sink my teeth into this one. The Times is linked on the right paw side and the original column is by David Sanders of the Morning News of Northwest Arkansas.

Win Paul Rockefeller is running for governor and, over the years, he claims to have had a “change of heart” on abortion. This dog is smarter than to take a position on that one, BUT it looks a bit too convenient that WPR has this clarifying experience just after he figures his previous position might hurt his political standing. Maybe such naïve posturing should be taken as refreshing, but I am not too sure.

Here’s the part that made me howl. Win Paul thinks Roe v. Wade may have been wrongly decided and that (you better sit down for this) there is no right to privacy in the Constitution. So, Mr. ROCKEFELLER, please mail over all complete financial statements, your checkbook, all banking records and any other documents I might decide to peruse. The guy who has always had his own personal guards and lives behind a locked gate thinks there is no privacy right. Oh, sorry. Excuse me. I forgot. He doesn’t think there is a privacy right for THE REST OF US. The rich get to do whatever they damn well please.

If any of you guys and gals are pharmaceutical reps, old dad could use some good drugs. He spent a good part of the morning conversing with a very nice woman named Iris. Shes a support technician for SW Bell DSL. After many gyrations and recalibrations, it seems that the problem was with the line after all and about 300 local customers lost high-speed internet service. If you missed todays newsletter, that is the reason.

Lyncho took it very calmly. The young lady must have been very reassuring. From what I heard, she apologized more than once, which was a nice thought. Too bad she did not authorize a month of free service or a half-pound of liver flavored dog treats! That would be some fine peace offering.

DFW is the worst airport for making connections but local authorities have found a solution. Today's Dallas Morning News reports on the new $800 million high speed train that will operate within the airport. That amount is about half of the proposed appropriation for the entire Amtrak system. Amtrak serves over 20 million passenges anually.I guess it would be a totally crazy idea to have high speed trains between cities. It would never work.

Radio Icon Assaulted By Chair

An internal investigation is underway in the late morning tipping over of Little Rock broadcaster Pat Lynch, otherwise known as The Notorious P-A-T. The rotund radio raconteur sustained only scrapes to his bare toes after being flipped backwards in his home office chair.

When asked to comment, Marie Lynch described a moment of absolute terror. "He started rocking back and he never came forward. It was like watching a human avalanche in slow motion." The wife of media super-star Lynch reported that police were not summoned and the round mound of sound did not require transport on the back of a flatbed truck. "That is surely the only way we could ever haul him to the hospital."

Mrs. Lynch refused to speculate concerning the reputed vast Lynch estate, to which she is the e only known heir, or the double throw-down wake planned for his demise. Lynch's personal funeral director was unavailable for comment.

The accused furniture is awaiting being disassembled and tossed in the dumpster. Investigators have not ruled out a conspiracy of disgruntled broadcasters reacting to this week’s dramatic announcement of a new and entirely unprecedented local Internet station, WAIRadio.com.

Lynch's massive ego was bruised but not broken.

Store personnel in the Riverdale Office Depot refused to officially confirm that Fatso and Marie were in the store shopping for an executive chair early Saturday afternoon. One young sales clerk was heard to remark, however, about how “some celebrity guy was so tight he squeaked. I mean. He must still have the first dime Ted Snider ever paid him.”

With so much going on this week, I have been home alone much of the time. That means that I do sometimes answer the phone.

Yesterday afternoon, dad got one of those bizarre calls from one of the half-dozen readers who is fixated on his newspaper column. One very intelligent gentleman on the phone is a small town science teacher with a special interest in birds.

He thinks the ivory bill woodpecker stories are a hoax. No kidding. He claims that the pictures we are seeing are not really current photographs but were taken back in the 1930’s, which is the last time anybody actually laid eyes on this particular creature.

Can that be possible? Are we so gullible? Is it possible to pull off such a huge deception and why would anybody want to do that? Molly can’t get it out of her canine head.

The U. S. House of Representatives approved another $82 billion for the wars in Iraq. Chump change. While ramming through this inconsequential spending bill they also abolished your freedom to travel. It’s a done deal and accomplished while nobody was watching.

The new federal drivers license “guidelines” do make it harder for everybody to get the permit that will ultimately be used to allow you to travel. It creates a massive central database from which you will eventually be required to report the destination and purpose of all intercity trips. This will be the perfect way for government to control the movements of dissidents, that is, people who do not agree with it. Of course, since they are malcontents – members of a minority philosophy or organization - people won’t care much at first. Those who don’t go along with the majority will be outnumbered and most folks will just say, “so what?’ Of course, eventually, the “majority” ruling class will become narrower and narrower but by then, it will be too late. Hitler Stalin and Mao would be pleased to see that the old Despots Playbook never goes out of date.

The House passed it because they were too timid to vote against money for the troops in Iraq. That makes them sheep. Instead of leaders Our representatives have become a bunch of cowardly followers.

Sometimes I get to visit the dog park and run free. When Big Brother gets his leash on you, it ain’t ever coming off.

The Democrat-Gazette has a story on the state Supreme Court setting a hearing for May 19 on whether it should reopen the Lake View case.

It is bad news for public school students because the legislature will have officially adjourned “sine die” and the only one who can bring them back is an unsympathetic lame duck governor. The last official day of the General Assembly is May 13 and the court should have appointed special masters, just like dad suggested.

The court voted 6-1 to schedule the oral arguments, with Justice Tom Glaze dissenting. He said the court should reopen the case and that holding oral arguments at this stage would be a "colossal waste of time." Amen.

Molly thought there might be something up when Clay Aiken suddenly appeared in the American Idol audience a few weeks ago. Aiken has had a contract dispute and there were some hard feelings but that chilly relationship must be getting warmer since FOX needs Clay as its' front man in the Paula Abdul debacle. The CBS Morning Show story about Clay's reaction to Primetime's investigation is linked above.

Clay makes some convincing arguments against the probably of Corey Clark's accusations They lived in the same house for several weeks and, according to Aiken, there was security. Contestants checked in and out. The Sprint store employees who supposedly was Clark and Abdul together buying a phone did not come forward on camera. Dear Lord, please tell us that ABC verified the phone numbers on the pages of bills which look so convincing.

Clay also has a theory about the phone message which Abdul left that is so well thought out that it could have only been hatched in the mind of a network publicist or a Hollywood lawyer. Read it for yourself.

Corey is a schemer and Paula is a fool. Case closed.

Fallen Idol

Your legal beagle has it all figured out.

Yes, its a publicity stunt. Yes, Coreys allegations are probably mostly true.

Corey Clarks abrupt removal from American Idol over a misstatement on an application form makes me wonder if producers were on to Paulas Abdul apparent indiscretion and found the easy excuse to boot Mr. Clark.

The phone bills look bad. We have to presume that ABC got it right before taking this story to the air and are certain that the numbers represented on the long distance and cell phone charges are, in fact, the numbers for Paula. It looks like those pain pills caused her to make a serious error in judgment. That is not making excuses, but posing a possible explanation for a serious case of the dumb-ass.

Primetime paraded out all the losers who did not make it into the top 10. What a bunch of whiners. There is one American Idol and then there is everybody else. They were lucky to get to sing. It is hard to imagine that a star such as Paula Abdul would get emotionally involved in some kid who has just made it into the top 32, but ABC seems to have her nailed.

Corey has the benefit of a grasping and ambitions mom who has obviously given him the low down on real world tactics to gain fame and fortune. The kid not only has a book deal but an song all about his supposed betrayal. Does anybody else think it is a bit suspicious that the lovers never made it past the guest bedroom? Could this be like Hey Jude? Take a sad song and make it better? The part about the sexual relationship is the sizzle to sell an otherwise mundane story.

Now, that ABC has this blockbuster piece of award winning investigative journalism off the docket, they can move on to other juicy stories. How about the bankruptcy bill passed through by greedy Republicans at the behest of wealthy banking interests? They could do one about why the price of gas is so high? Whose political friends get rich off that? Maybe ABC can find out which higher-ups were in charge of the prisoner abuse in Iraq. Good work, Primetime!

My busy Life

Many of you have been wondering about what's happening with Pat. Although there is no official word yet, I would be checking here Friday afternoon. Lyncho.com Will have the most complete information.

If he ever gets off his lazy rear end and orders a microphone, the podcasts will start soon. That, however, is not the big news.

There is a new and more comfortable bed for me, and that should be big news. That has enhanced my napping pleasure. Papa likes to say that there are plenty of children in Pulaski County who do not have as nice a bed. I think he exaggerates.

Mom put out a big new box of nice teats. These are not the rurally amazing liver flavored treats, but I think something is in the wind.
